Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a globally prominent actor and entertainer. The star is known for showing both incredible professionalism and a relentless work ethic. His hard-working and highly cooperative persona has established him as one of the most respectful figures in Hollywood. However, the problems with ‘’Red One’, a mega-budgeted Christmas crowd-pleaser helmed by Jake Kasdan, have brought Johnson’s work ethic and fame into a different light.
Red One is packed with a sensational cast. Apart from Johnson, it has talents like Chris Evans, Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Liu, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, J. K. Simmons, Bonnie Hunt, and Nick Kroll. It was originally scheduled for a theatrical release in 2023 but got postponed due to labour strikes. However, The Wrap’s latest story tells a completely different story.
According to The Wrap, Johnson’s lack of professionalism and prolonged lateness did not sit well with Red One’s producers, ultimately ballooning the film’s final budget up to $250 million. On one occasion, the actor arrived eight hours late on the film’s set. In addition, Johnson reportedly has a habit of peeing in water bottles to save time.
“On set, away from his trailer, if he needs to pee, he doesn’t go to the public bathroom. He pees in a Voss water bottle and his team or a PA has to dispose of it,” said one of the insiders from The Wrap.
That is not the only problem Red One has to deal with. Amazon MGM participated in its first-ever CinemaCon event this year. The production house took everyone by surprise by unveiling a 10-minute footage from the film to a small group of journalists selected by Dwayne Johnson’s publicist, Meredith O’Sullivan. The journalists were not allowed to write about the footage. The studio’s overly cautious approach with Red One indicates that the film may encounter many obstacles before arriving in theatres on November 15, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
