15th of August was a big day for the Indian cinema. Especially for the southern cinematic industries, many projects with quite good potential were released on the day. Thangalaan became a show stealer crossing the mark of 50 crores in just two days. Many other movies also had quite decent results with both the box office as well as from the critics.
Thangalaan is one such movie that had great impact on the box office as well as from the critics. Apart from being the top second grossing movie of the week, the movie also received excellent reviews from the critics. The stellar performances by Vikram and Arithi made the movie a treat to watch. The direction, cinematography was all stellar and the movie looks very promising and is sure to win multiple awards in future. The movie has already proved its commercial worth and hence is the most successful regional movie of the week.
Apart from it, Mr. Bacchan and Double iSmart too created a good impact in the box office. The movies had a good star appeal with Ravi Teja and Ram Pothineni as the lead actors respectively. Although, the movies could not impress the audience and had a bad second day. The movies were not well received by the critics either, who found the movies to be a waste of time.
Movies like Demonte Colony 2 had quite a good reception from the critics, even though they couldn’t perform well on the box office. Demonte Colony 2 was well praised for its excellent direction and performances by the cast. The movie had a good plot and was a perfect sequel to the first movie. It is being called as one of the best sequels in the history of Tamil cinema. The critics found it to be one of the best created horror movies of the year when this year has masterpiece like Bramayugam in it.
All in all, the day was very fruitful for the regional cinema. The regional movies did a better business even than the Bollywood movies. Except Stree 2, no Bollywood movie could even show half the potential that the regional movies showed this week
