Among the many OTT platforms that have captured the fascination of streaming enthusiasts across the country, Voot, the digital content wing of Network18, has stood tall.
Foraying into the regional space recently, the brand has already established its credibility in the Hindi speaking belt of India.
Its COO, Gourav Rakshit, as part of an OTT industry event, had spoken to Binged.com about the many developments and possibilities in the digital medium for the future.
“We’re in the cusp of a historic opportunity. The digital medium has completely removed the shackles of a theatrical viewing experience. The amount of attention that the industry has been receiving is positively very high,”
Rakshit conveyed his optimism about the evolution of the space in the last 2-3 years. He also believes that marketeers underestimate the potential of the market.
Quoting an example, Rakshit told Binged.com:
“The most recent season of Bigg Boss, featuring Salman Khan, has helped us get a viewer count of more than 100 crores. Catch-up content is the norm of the day. The BTS and making footage of the content can be very interesting for the viewers as well. Even with regards to advertising, content creators need to understand that advertisers wouldn’t hesitate to put money into OTT.”
Regional content will decide the future of an OTT platform because that’s where people are willing to consume more content of their choice. Rakshit told Binged.com:
“Good investment in content will also help develop viewer recommendations for the future using artificial intelligence. We are yet to have a diverse content range.”
