Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed the release windows for Zootopia 2, Toy Story 5, and Frozen 3 during the production house’s Q1 2024 earnings call. Apart from the release windows of these highly anticipated sequels, Iger also disclosed the release year for the recently announced The Mandalorian and Grogu movie.
Bob Iger said that Zootopia 2 would arrive in theaters worldwide on November 26, 2025. As for Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3, both are slated for 2026. Their exact release dates will be revealed soon.
The newly announced Star Wars project, The Mandalorian and Grogu will also come out in 2026. This project will be the first of new Star Wars films that have been announced after the release of Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). In addition, Alien: Romulus is scheduled to hit the theatres on August 16, 2024. Moreover, Iger announced Moana 2, which is expected to come out on November 27, 2024.
Considering all the recent announcements, it seems like Disney has decided to play safe now, investing more in the sequels of its prominent movie franchises. The year 2023 marked the 100th anniversary of Disney. To honour the production house’s legacy, Bob Iger’s team decided to release Wish (2023), which turned out to be a complete misfire. Made on a hefty budget of $200 million, the film has managed to collect over $244 million (globally) only.
Years 2025 and 2026 will keep Disney more busy compared to the ongoing year, as Marvel Studios plans to release Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, Blade, and Fantastic Four next year, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
