Remake Of 80s Cult Classic “The Lost Boys” Finally Underway!

Remake Of 80s Cult Classic “The Lost Boys” Finally Underway!

2021 has been the year of announcing remakes and releasing remakes. From Gossip Girl to Sex and The City, to major movies like Ghostbusters, Wicked, The Wild Bunch, and many others. Keeping up with the trend, Warner Bros, one of the biggest production companies has taken upon themselves to bring the remake of yet another cult classic straight from the 80s. The movie we are talking about is “The Lost Boys”, released back in 1988. The movie was an absolute hit back in the days, and was also a production of Warner Bros, in 1988.

The reboot, or the remake as one may call it will star two very known young men from the industry. The latest version of The Lost Boys will star Noah Jupe and Jaeden Martell. Both of these fine young men have tasted their part of success already in Hollywood with famous movies and series. As for the movie, Warner Bros. will show a modern-day take on the classic “The Lost Boys” and how the modern-day situations could change certain scenarios in the story.

As for the actors, Noah Jupe has appeared in the superhit “A Quiet Place” films, along with “The Undoing” with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant and “Honey Boy”, while Jaeden Martell has shared screens with stars like Chris Evans and more. Martell has starred in the movies “It”, along with “Masters of Sex”, “Defending Jacob” and “Knives Out”. Now, when we look at it, both these young stars have appeared in hit horror movies, and “The Lost Boys” itself being a supernatural film, they sure will blend into it.

Jonathan Entwistle will direct “The Lost Boys” with Randy McKinnon, who is currently working on “Static Shock” for Warner Bros, and DC. Entwistle has been the creator of Netflix’s hit show, “The End of The F****ing World” and Disney Plus series, “Willow”. “The Lost Boys” will have Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger as producers from Automatik. Zac Frognowski and Josh Glick will executive produce the movie. There have been no updates on the release dates of the movie since Warner Bros is already pretty packed and loaded, but soon with more people in, the movie will lock a release date for sure.

As for the story and the original movie, “The Lost Boys” shows the stories of two boys who move to Los Angeles with their mothers and end up meeting a gang of absolutely stunning bikers, who apparently are vampires. The movie came to be known as a breakthrough in vampire genre movies, as this was the one that gave vampires young, stylish, and extremely beautiful avatars. Not only that, the movie included some of the best music from the era with music from bands like Echo and the Bunnymen doing a cover version of the Doors’ “People Are Strange”. INXS’ “Good Times” with Jimmy Barnes, along with songs by Roger Daltrey and Foreigner’s Lou Gramm absolutely gave the movie an extra edge.

Earlier a “The Lost Boys” series was planned by Warner Bros, but sadly the shoot of it stopped right after the shoot for the “Pilot” and since then, there have been no words on it. “The Lost Boys” has been a game-changer in the supernatural genre ever since its release and was successfully able to establish it as a classic. It would be interesting to see how the new boys and the new remake take the legacy of “The Lost Boys” ahead.
