The brand new partnership between streamer ZEE5 and content creator Applause Entertainment is bearing quick fruits. After the well-received ‘Kaun Banegi Shikharwati’, ZEE5 has unveiled the first look of its next show from the stables of Applause Entertainment. Titled ‘Mithya’, the upcoming show is a psychological thriller, centred on two strong-headed women. Huma Qureshi and debutante Avantika Dassani play the two women.
ZEE5 revealed the first look poster of ‘Mithya’ this afternoon. The poster is grim and stark, and features a deglammed Huma Qureshi in the foreground of the poster. Avantika Dassani stands in the background, looking menacing and like someone not to be messed with. Huma Qureshi too posted the image on her Instagram, with the caption, “IT’S TIME TO SHUT DOWN THE RUMOURS! It’s time to call out all the cheats and the liars. Presenting the world of lies Mithya”.
Going by the captions and posters floating around on social media, Mithya is to do with cheaters and manipulators, and their web of lies and deceit. Incidentally, Mithya is an original adaptation of the 2019 British series Cheat. The tense thriller stars Katherine Kelly as a university professor, and Molly Windsor as her student. The complex relationship between them soon escalates and lands one of them in prison.
Avantika Dassani is actress Bhagyashree‘s daughter, and Abhimanyu Dassani’s (Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, Meenakshi Sundareshwar) sister. She makes her acting debut with the show. Parambrata Chatterjee, Rajit Kapur, Samir Soni, Krishna Kumar Bisht, Avantika Akerkar, Indraneil Sengupta, Rushad Rana, make up the rest of the cast. Mithya is directed by Rohan Sippy and produced by Applause Entertainment for ZEE5.
It was in the mid of December that the two indigenous content powerhouses, ZEE5 and Applause Entertainment had inked a mutually beneficial deal. Mithya is their second collaboration after ‘Kaun Banegi Shikharwati‘.
