BAFTA and Golden Globe Award winning film director Richard Linklater is known for making movies that deal thematically with suburban culture and the varied effects that the passage of time has on people. His renowned works include the Before trilogy, ‘Dazed and Confused’, ‘Boyhood’, and most recently, the Netflix sensation ‘Hit Man’, starring Glen Powell and Adria Arjona.
Fresh off of the success of the thriller dramedy, Linklater is back at it again for his next venture, ‘Blue Moon’. The film profiles the final days of Lorenz Hart, one-half of the hit songwriting duo Rodgers & Hart. The film is set primarily in Sardi’s Restaurant on March 31, 1943, the opening night of the iconic musical play ‘Oklahoma!’, which marked Rodgers’s first collaboration with Oscar Hammerstein II as Hart’s replacement.
The film has a star-studded ensemble cast on board. Andrew Scott, Margaret Qualley, Ethan Hawke, and Bobby Cannavale are officially set to star in the film.
This will mark the 9th collaboration between Linklater and industry expert Ethan Hawke. Apart from this, Hawke also has ‘The Black Phone 2’, a sequel to the 2021 horror thriller.
Qualley will next be seen in the highly awaited projects from Yorgos Lanthimos, ‘Kinds of Kindness’, and Coralie Fargeat’s ‘The Substance’. Scott, following the success of the intense drama ‘All of Us Strangers’, has ‘Knives Out 3’ upcoming, amongst other projects. Cannavale on the other hand has the highly anticipated A24 horror thriller ‘MaXXXine’ forthcoming.
