Filmmaker Ridley Scott has confirmed that his next movie will be a western. He is all ready to release his hyped ‘Napoleon’ starring Joaquín Phoenix. And the shooting for his Gladiator sequel was already complete before the strikes. Now, at 86, he plans a western movie.
It is being reported that this movie might be adapted from the popular novel, ‘Wraiths Of The Broken Land’. The book is written by S. Craig Zahler, and tells the thrilling story of Plugfords who try to reclaim two kidnapped sisters who are forced into prostitution. The book takes its inspiration both from movies and pulp horror magazines. It is a wonderful melangé of noir, western thrillers and Asian horror.
Though there are no official announcements till now, Ridley Scott had previously revealed the wish to make this movie into a movie. It was reported in 2016 that Scott was about to direct this movie for Fox. It was also reported that he would collaborate with Drew Goddard, who worked with him in ‘The Martian’. But it did not work out at that time. There is a high chance that Scott is returning to Wraiths Of The Broken Land.
Zahler already had a few movie adaptations of his books but this one, if it works out, is surely going to be the finest of them all.
