We are just hours away from getting our hands on Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2. But before diving deep into the Tolkien world again, check out what are critics saying about the new season. Is it better than the okayish and bit controversial Season 1? Or should the fans expect something much worse?
First reactions to Rings of Power Season 2 are mostly positive, with praises directed at the cast’s performances, battle sequences, visuals, and Bear McCreary’s score. However, much of the criticism went to the slow-paced plot. In addition, the second season tries to explore too many subplots that will often feel disconnected to many viewers. This scenario will certainly test the patience of many viewers. Season 1 also suffered from the same criticism right after its streaming release. According to many critics, Season 2 feels like a satisfying addition to the series but it doesn’t break any new ground. But it does look darker and more focused than Season 1.
The first three episodes from the second season will premiere on Prime Video on August 29 at 12.30 PM IST. The remaining episodes are set to come out weekly until October 3. Charlotte Brändström (Arrow, Grey’s Anatomy, Outlander, and The Witcher) has helmed four episodes in the upcoming season.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 stars Morfydd Clark (Galadriel), Robert Aramayo (Elrond), Owain Arthur (Durin IV), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Miriel), Maxim Baldry (Isildur), Ismael Cruz Cordova (Arondir), Charles Edwards (Celebrimbor), Markella Kavenagh (Nori), Charlie Vickers (Sauron/Annatar), and more. Check out some of the early reactions to Season 2!

#TheRingsOfPower Season 2 is a significant improvement over season 1, particularly in the second half which I found: Incredible. It’s darker, more compelling and while let down by some uninteresting storylines, builds to a masterful battle episode! I loved it. pic.twitter.com/woy3bpmhQy

Season 2 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power does a great job portraying Sauron’s machinations, but too much time is spent on disconnected subplots.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" Season 2 is lifeless and makes Middle-Earth a boring slog.https://t.co/l4zaA5LVIr

The Lord of the Rings #RingsOfPower Season 2 is a big step up from Season 1. Less puzzles & mysteries! Massive scope, Actual character depth, intrigue to MOST of the story lines, & pay off beyond belief!
The final 4 episodes are INCREDIBLE.
