Is Jake Gyllenhaal interested in returning as Dalton in Road House 2? Well, yes! Gyllenhaal played the character in the recently released Road House, helmed by Doug Liman. The film serves as a remake of the 1989 movie of the same name, featuring Patrick Swayze in the leading role. Liman’s version came out on Prime Video on March 21.
In a recent interview with Collider, Jake Gyllenhaal showed his interest in returning to Road House 2 if it receives the green light from Amazon MGM in the future. This is what he replied:
“I would love to [return to the sequel]. I love the role. I love the character. I love the humour. I love where he could go. The first thing I ever read in the script was the scene where he asked about insurance, if they have insurance, asked if their bikes are outside, and the essence of that character is there, and there’s so much more to explore in that space. So, yeah.”
As of now, Prime Video’s Road House stands at a 63% ‘fresh’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 128 reviews. On the other hand, the film’s audience score is much lower than its critic score, 59%, based on over 1000 verified ratings. Despite its mixed reception from both viewers and critics, Road House may receive noticeable viewership from viewers in its early streaming run as many people still love Patrick Swayze’s Road House. The original 1989 film was far from being called a masterpiece. In fact, it was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards. However, the audience’s reception towards the Patrick Swayze starrer became more positive with time. The film is now considered a cult classic. Plus, we cannot ignore Gyllenhaal’s popularity among movie lovers. So, the odds of Road House 2 happening are looking pretty good.
Doug Liman’s Road House stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Austin Post, Conor McGregor, and more. Stream it now on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more updates
