In a fantastic piece of news for ardent cinephiles, Academy Award-winning actor-director duo Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis are reportedly (via Deadline) reuniting for another exciting film. It’s an adaptation based on the legendary comic book artist Richard McGuire’s graphic novel ‘Here’, which was published in the year 2014.
Tom Hanks will star in the film adaptation of ‘Here’ which will be helmed by Robert Zemeckis. And into the bargain, the dynamic duo will be teaming up with another Oscar winner Eric Roth, who is the film’s co-writer along with Robert Zemeckis. All three of them had bagged the coveted golden trophy for the 1994 cult film ‘Forrest Gump’.
Coming back to Richard McGuire’s graphic novel ‘Here’, it is based on the author’s pathbreaking 1989 comic strip of the same name. The novel’s story revolves around a particular corner of a particular room, and it showcases the happenings and inhabitants of that room over the course of hundreds and thousands of years comprising the past, present, and the future. Super interesting premise, isn’t it?
It’s being touted as a big-ticket project (for obvious reasons) and various reputed studios and OTT streaming services are purportedly analyzing the intriguing film adaptation of ‘Here’.
Robert Zemeckis (Director – Back to the Future, Contact) is currently busy with the post-production work of the live-action adaptation of Disney’s ‘Pinocchio’ also starring Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks’ other forthcoming acting projects include Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley film and Wes Anderson’s next star-studded directorial. Besides ‘Forrest Gump’, Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks have previously collaborated for survival drama ‘Cast Away’ and the animated fantasy film ‘The Polar Express’.
Owing to Robert Zemeckis and Tom Hanks’ spectacular filmographies and the global popularity of Richard McGuire’s graphic novel, expectations for the film adaptation of ‘Here’ would naturally be sky-high for fans across the globe.
