After getting a standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival 2022, R. Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ was finally released in theatres on 1st July. The film has picked up pace at the box-office and has reportedly grossed around Rs.14 crore worldwide. Besides, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ has garnered critical acclaim from many quarters. Recently, legendary actor Rajinikanth has also termed it as a must-watch movie.
After the positive feedback from a large segment of audiences and critics, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ has now entered IMDb’s list of the top 250 Indian movies of all time. It currently holds a highly impressive IMDb rating of 9.3. Other Indian movies from 2022 which are currently on IMDb’s highest rated Indian movies list are ‘777 Charlie’, ‘Vikram’, ‘Major’, ‘Jana Mana Gana’, ‘KGF 2’, ‘Kaun Pravin Tambe?’, ‘RRR’, and ‘Hridayam’.
And in doing that, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ is now ahead of some fine Indian movies such as ‘RRR’, ‘Major, ‘Gully Boy’, ‘Nayattu’, ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, and ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, to name a few. Moreover, Rocketry has garnered a solid 96% positive feedback on the movie ticketing portal BookMyShow.
Helmed by R. Madhavan, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ is a biographical drama which is based on the life of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was falsely accused of selling confidential information to foreign entities and how he eventually fought back. ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ also features Simran (as Meera Narayanan), Rajit Kapur (as Vikram Sarabhai), and Gulshan Grover (as A.P.J. Abdul Kalam) besides special appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya. The film’s OTT rights have been acquired by the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform.
