Madhavan’s directorial debut ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’. Even before the film was to be showcased at Cannes, there was already a positive buzz and high curiosity quotient around it. And the festival audience were purportedly vying for a spot at Rocketry’s screening venue.
And after ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ was screened, it received a standing ovation by the Cannes festival audience. Some big names (including Nambi Narayanan himself) were present during the film’s Cannes screening. The list also includes two legendary Indian film industry people Shekhar Kapur and A.R. Rahman. And this is what they said about R. Madhavan’s film:
What a beautiful film #rocketry, a film based on the life of Rocket Scientist Nambi Narayanan is. The film had its #cannes premiere last night, beautifully directed and starring R Madhavan. The presence of Nambi Narayanan himself in the audience made it even more heart wrenching

‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ is a biographical drama movie which is based on the life of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was falsely accused of selling confidential information to foreign entities. R. Madhavan, who has written and directed the film, has essayed the titular role of the scientist. The film would ostensibly narrate Nambi Narayanan’s life-story right from his Princeton University days until he was falsely accused of espionage and how he eventually fought back.
‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ also features Simran (as Meera Narayanan), Rajit Kapur (as Vikram Sarabhai), and Gulshan Grover (as A.P.J.
