Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has just dropped the trailer for its upcoming film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani’. The RRKPK trailer (as the movie is known, in its shortened form) is everything one expected from a Karan Johar directed film, and more. The trailer promises a movie that will be as entertaining as the best Karan Johar movies of yore, such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani premieres in theatres on 28th July, 2023.
The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani trailer gives us ample hint of the story of the movie, along with a lavish, larger-than-life visual spectacle. Rocky (Ranveer Singh) and Rani (Alia Bhatt), meet and fall in love. Both are stinking rich and good-looking people. But their families are as different from each other as chalk from cheese. And that’s where the trouble begins.
Honestly speaking, the trailer of RRKPK gives strong ‘Khubsoorat’ vibes; not the contemporary Sonam Kapoor film, but Hrishikesh Mukherji’s evergreen 1980 movie. We’ll have to wait for the movie to release in theatres to find out. Though it’s a well known fact that Karan Johar has given Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani the aesthetic grammar of a Yash Chopra movie, as an ode to the late maestro. So we have Alia Bhatt’s Rani gyrating on snow-clad mountains, donned in oh-so-pretty chiffon sarees, while Ranveer Singh’s Rocky serenades her with some melodious songs.
Karan Johar also has an emotional reason for dedicating his directorial comeback film to Yash Chopra. Karan Johar is celebrating his 25th year in the film industry, and what better way to make it memorable than by creating an ode to Yash Chopra, his mentor, guide and inspiration.
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani boasts a huge and exceptional ensemble cast, besides the leads Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. There’s Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Namit Das, Ronit Roy, Saswata Chatterjee, Karmveer Choudhary, Arjun Bijlani, Shraddha Arya, Sriti Jha, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Arjit Taneja, Aamir Bashir, Kshitee Jog and Churni Ganguly, among others. The movie is directed by Karan Johar, and written by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy, with music by Pritam.
