Rohit Roy is a well-known face in the Indian film and television industry. The talented actor shot to fame after featuring in the hit 90s TV show ‘Swabhimaan’. However, after that, the actor wasn’t for some reason able to replicate the success he deserved. Not many might be aware of the fact that Rohit Roy is all set to make his international debut in a science fiction thriller movie titled ‘Screem’.
The high concept film is an Indo-British production helmed by Sam Bhattacharjee and is purportedly based on the notion of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Rohit Roy will be seen essaying the role of a software entrepreneur who makes a pathbreaking AI-based application IRAH 5.10 through which a person can remain undead in a way by creating his/her copy. Screem’s director
Screem’s underlying AI-based concept has been intermittently used by Hollywood filmmakers, however, this is probably the first time the notion is being explored by an Indian filmmaker. The film’s premise is delightfully reminiscent of the opening episode of the second season of cult British sci-fi series ‘Black Mirror’, which streams on the Netflix OTT platform.
Considering the premise and sci-fi genre, ‘Screem’ would encompass a significant amount of VFX, and it is currently in the post-production stage. Sam Bhattacharjee’s prior experience as a visual effects supervisor would hopefully help the VFX-oriented film achieve the kind of production values it needs. While Rohit Roy and the film’s cast and crew had concluded the filming schedule in London during the last year’s pandemic period.
Rohit Roy has previously featured in films such as ‘LOC: Kargil’, ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’, ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’, and more recently in ‘Kaabil’ and ‘Mumbai Saga’ amongst others. While ‘Screem’ would be the first film that will feature Rohit Roy in the lead role. We hope that ‘Screem’ would turn out to be the film that would give the actor the long due recognition in the Indian film industry, and which would finally justify his talent.
