Before the release of Rohit Shetty’s last year’s cop actioner ‘Sooryavanshi’ starring Akshay Kumar, speculations were being made about Sidharth Malhotra making his OTT web series debut in a project backed by the blockbuster filmmaker. It seems that the speculations have been laid to rest because the series is actually moving forward at great speed.
Because as per a report by Mid-day, Rohit Shetty is all set to commence filming for the cop-based web series starring ‘Shershaah’ actor Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role. The show would mark the web series OTT debut for both Rohit Shetty and Sidharth Malhotra.
Not just that, the web series will start its filming schedule from tomorrow at the Golden Tobacco factory in the Vile Parle area of Mumbai. The show will also be filmed in several real locations in Mumbai. While Rohit Shetty will reportedly act as the showrunner, the web series will be helmed by Sushwanth Prakash in his directorial debut.
Sushwanth Prakash has been a long-time associate of Rohit Shetty who has assisted the latter in his films including ‘Singham’, ‘Dilwale’, and ‘Simmba’. Whether Rohit Shetty will also co-direct the show is not yet confirmed.
As per the latest buzz, the cop-based show will be set in an eight-episode format. Moreover, the web series will ostensibly be released on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform. Official confirmation is still awaited at the time of writing this article.
Besides the cop action-drama web series, Rohit Shetty is geared up for the release of his next film ‘Cirkus’ which features Ranveer Singh in a double role. The film is purportedly based on William Shakespeare’s acclaimed play ‘The Comedy of Errors’ and is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on 15th July 2022.
While Sidharth Malhotra’s forthcoming acting projects include the action film ‘Yodha’, the spy thriller ‘Mission Majnu’, and Indra Kumar’s comedy movie ‘Thank God’. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Rohit Shetty and Sidharth Malhotra’s cop-based web series.
