Homegrown streaming behemoth Sony LIV has just revealed the glittering cast of its new show, ‘Kan Khajura’. The crime thriller series will star buzzy actor Mohit Raina in the lead, along with the stellar Roshan Mathew as co-lead. Sarah Jain Dias completes the triumvirate of leads in Kan Khajura.
Mahesh Shetty, Ninad Kamat, Trinetra Haldar, Heeba Shah, and Usha Nadkarni form the rest of the cast of Sony LIV’s ‘Kan Khajura’. Interestingly, Mohit Raina and Sarah Jain Dias have recently worked together in hit spy thriller ‘The Freelancer’ on Disney Plus Hotstar.
The series is the official Hindi adaptation of hit Israeli series ‘Magpie’. Kan Khajura will be Sony LIV’s third adaptation of an Israeli series. It has earlier created ‘Your Honour’, the adaptation of the Israeli series of the same name; followed by ‘Tanaav’, its adaptation of ‘Fauda’, the popular Israeli show on Netflix.
Kan Khajura is produced by Ajay Rai, while Chandan Arora is the director of the series. Sony LIV has described Kan Khajura as a compelling narrative rich in depth and emotional resonance. The series follows a murder convict who is released early from jail on the condition that he’ll work as an informant for the police.
The original show ‘Magpie’ was created by Adam Bizanski, Omri Shenhar, and Dana Eden for Israeli production house, Yes Studios. The show skillfully explores the complexities of fractured familial ties, touching on themes of betrayal, redemption, and the resilience of the human spirit.
Magpie ran for two seasons, and was a big hit globally. It also garnered critical acclaim, winning Best Screenplay at the Berlin TV Series festival in 2019, apart from nominations for Best International Series and Best Performance.
Sony LIV hasn’t revealed a release date for ‘Kan Khajura’ yet. Stay tuned to Binged for further updates on the same.
