Popular Indian actor Ajay Devgn, who is fresh off the heels after his critically acclaimed act in the recently released Disney+ Hotstar series ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’, is all set to make his directorial comeback ‘Runway 34’. A few days back, he had unveiled some intriguing posters for the film followed by a new poster reveal yesterday. And now, the film’s first teaser trailer has been launched by the intense actor.
The teaser of ‘Runway 34’ gives the audience a view of an airplane cockpit with Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh as the pilot and the co-pilot. The flight is undergoing turbulent weather and the pilots seem to be facing difficulty in landing the plane. The subsequent reels showcase Amitabh Bachchan ostensibly investigating the incident. It was also revealed that the film’s trailer will be out on 21st March 2022.
The gripping teaser of ‘Runway 34’ is somewhat reminiscent of the slick Hollywood film named ‘Flight’ starring veteran actor Denzel Washington and directed by gifted filmmaker Robert Zemeckis. ‘Flight’ follows a brilliant airline pilot who saves almost everyone onboard a malfunctioning airliner by using extraordinary skills. Later, the investigation reveals some surprising facts about the airline crash.
‘Runway 34’, which was earlier titled ‘Mayday’, is being touted as a high-octane, edge-of-the-seat thriller drama with a runtime of about 140 minutes. Although the precise plot details are being kept under the wraps, the film’s story purportedly revolves around the workings of the aviation industry and is said to be inspired by a real-life event that occurred in India in the year 2015.
Directed and produced by and also featuring Ajay Devgn in the lead role of a pilot, ‘Runway 34’ also features Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. From the film’s tagline “The truth is hidden 35,500 feet above the ground” and its posters and teaser, it seems that legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan will be essaying the role of a government investigative officer.
‘Runway 34’ would be the third film for which Ajay Devgn has donned the director’s hat. Previously, the ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ actor went both behind and in front of the camera for the romantic drama ‘U Me Aur Hum’, and the action flick ‘Shivaay’. ‘Runway 34’ is slated to release in theatres on 29th April 2022.
