Sadie Sink’s inclusion in the MCU’s Spider-Man 4, led by Tom Holland, is a big deal for fans, given her impressive acting accolades in such a short time. The actress is best known for her work in Netflix’s Stranger Things, the Fear Street trilogy, and A24’s The Whale. And there are plenty of characters she could bring to life in the next Spider-Man installment.
Sink rose to global fame as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things and has steadily expanded her acting career since Season 4. Recent rumours about her joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe have now been confirmed—she will appear in Spider-Man 4.
The ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Doctor Strange erased everyone’s memory of Peter Parker, leaves the return of Holland’s supporting cast uncertain. This gives director Destin Daniel Cretton a blank slate to introduce fresh allies and adversaries for Spider-Man, making Sink’s potential role in Spider-Man 4 open to numerous exciting possibilities.
A large portion of the MCU fanbase hopes Sadie Sink will portray a younger version of Jean Grey in Spider-Man 4, a scenario that would also help establish the foundation for Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie.
Sink’s physical appearance, combined with her ability to display intense emotional depth—seen in Stranger Things—makes her an ideal candidate for a young Jean Grey. Her powerful screen presence and ability to convey both vulnerability and burgeoning power align perfectly with Jean’s complex character. However, the chances of this happening remain quite low.
Another prominent Spider-Man character Sink could play is Mary Jane Watson, given her age and bright red hair. This would offer the MCU fanbase a completely different and more comic-accurate version of MJ. Zendaya has played MJ in the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy.
Alternatively, we could see Sadie Sink take on the role of Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 4. While Stacy is traditionally blonde and Sink is a redhead, past Spider-Man films have shown that hair colour isn’t a casting barrier.
For instance, Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3) and Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man movies) portrayed Gwen despite having red hair. Sink could do the same in Spider-Man 4. Following the loss of MJ, Gwen Stacy would be a logical romantic progression for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
Sadie Sink’s inclusion in Spider-Man 4 is exciting due to her proven acting abilities. Her performances demonstrate a remarkable range and emotional depth. This talent translates well to the MCU, allowing her to bring complexity and nuance to any character she portrays. Her dedication and skill will likely result in a captivating and memorable performance, enhancing the film and the MCU overall. Stay tuned for more updates.
