Earlier today, the supremely talented filmmaker Om Raut had announced through his social media platform that Saif Ali Khan, who is essaying the role of the antagonist Lankesh in his forthcoming directorial film ‘Adipurush’, has wrapped filming his portions for the film. His Twitter post was marked with the words “It’s a film wrap for Lankesh!!! Had so much fun shooting with you SAK!!!” along with filming wrap celebration pictures from last night.
‘Adipurush’ is the second cinematic collaboration between Om Raut and Saif Ali Khan after the blockbuster success of another visually opulent, period war film ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ starring Ajay Devgn in the titular role which also featured Saif Ali Khan in a brilliantly portrayed negative role. In ‘Tanhaji’, Saif Ali Khan played the role of Aurangzeb’s trusted general Udaybhan Singh Rathore in his distinctive charismatic style.
Knowing Saif Ali Khan’s penchant for effortlessly playing several negative characters previously in films like Sriram Raghavan’s ‘Ek Hasina Thi’, Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Omkara’, and more recently in Amazon Prime Video’s political thriller ‘Tandav’, audiences can expect nothing but fireworks regarding his face-off with superstar Prabhas.
‘Adipurush’ is certainly amongst the most highly anticipated film projects to be announced in the recent past. Om Raut’s mythological movie is based on one of the two major Hindu epics Ramayana and stars Prabhas in the titular role of Adipurush (Lord Ram), Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Raavan), ‘Mimi’ actress Kriti Sanon as Sita, and Sunny Singh as Lord Ram’s brother Lakshmana.
Pan-India film ‘Adipurush’ will release in Hindi and Telugu languages besides being dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. Reportedly made on a massive budget, Om Raut’s magnum opus ‘Adipurush’ is currently eyeing a theatrical release on 11th August 2022. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on ‘Adipurush’.
