For a while now, we have been hearing that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will be playing an extended cameo role in Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Godfather, which happens to be the Telugu remake of blockbuster Malayalam political thriller Lucifer. But there has’t been a consolidated update in this regard till now. However, Salman Khan has put an end to the speculations with an affirmative statement.
In his latest interaction with a media portal, Salman has confirmed that he is indeed a part of the cast of Chiranjeevi‘s Godfather. “Yes, I am a part of Chiranjeevi’s Godfather. Chiranjeevi came down and asked me to play a role in the film. I agreed to it. I am playing an extended cameo role in the film. I am doing a film with Venkatesh as well,” Salman Khan reportedly replied
It has been a long-standing dream of Chiranjeevi’s to attain pan-India stardom. He staked his claim at the same with Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy but the film failed to attract the Hindi audience and ended up as a dud in the Northern circuit. But now that Salman is a part of Godfather, the Chiranjeevi starrer will obviously enjoy a much bigger reach in the Northern circuit.
With Salman Khan’s inclusion, the canvas of Godfather will scale up substantially, given the former’s superstardom and the box office pull he commands in the Hindi circuit. If the film comes with the right content, it might well be Chiranjeevi’s first pan-India success.
Godfather is directed by Mohan Raja. Salman Khan is expected to join the sets of the project soon. It is heard that he might be reprising Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character from the original. Nayanthara is playing the other female lead in the film.
