With less than a month away from its worldwide release, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is augmenting fans’ curiosity with every passing day. There is no denying that a sea of questions is flowing in the minds of MCU fans about the film. But the biggest question among them all is “who’s the villain in Doctor Strange 2?”. Director Sam Raimi recently appeared in an interview with Fandango where he disclosed some intriguing details about the movie.
When asked about the primary antagonist of Doctor Strange 2, Raimi said:
“Well, there are iterations of our characters throughout the multiverse,” the helmer explained. “So, if I were to say Strange … I’m not really supposed to answer this question, but I might be saying altered Strange. Same with Wanda and Mordo. But I would say, at different times, all of the above.”
Sam Raimi ‘s reply is clearly hazy. His answer tells everything despite not letting out the main thing. Well, we have already witnessed Mordo and Shuma-Gorath in both the movie’s teaser and trailer. Plus, Wanda will play a major role in the film. She re-created Vision and generated her children, Billy and Tommy, with the help of her powers in the WandaVision series. But she loses them after the destruction of Westview. However, she hears the voices of her boys while studying Darkhold in the post-credits scene of the Disney+ show. Fans will get a chance to watch her evil self wreaking havoc in DS 2. Furthermore, several fan theories related to Mephisto’s or Nightmare’s live-action debut in the forthcoming project are trending pretty heavily on the internet.
All the above-mentioned details show that Doctor Strange 2 will not be a straightforward “good vs evil” movie. Different variants of pivotal characters will emerge in the film. It is unclear which variants will raise hell or remain friendly. This scenario can give an interesting twist to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and many more with Sam Raimi at the helm. It will hit the theatres on May 6.
