Samantha Akkineni Bears Brunt Of Criticism For The Family Man 2 Controversy

After much delay and a lot of waiting and anticipation, the trailer for Amazon Prime Video’s “The Family Man” Season 2 finally dropped yesterday and within minutes it turned out to be the most trending topic everywhere. The show was already trending but now with a release date in hands, it has got people talking and excited as to what will happen next.

One of the most eye-catching additions to this season is undoubtedly Samantha Akkineni. The actress from down South is already a superstar and she is finally foraying into the Hindi content space with none other than Manoj Bajpayee and his team of The Family Man. As the trailer dropped we could see Samantha in a very bold and edgy role, filled with action from each angle and killer dialogues already. She immediately became the topic of discussion, as her character Raji is already receiving a lot of love.

But, here comes an issue, with love comes hatred and looks like Samantha’s role is getting both at the moment. Her character Raji as shown in the trailer, is a highly trained terrorist and that a group of them will join hands in a coalition with ISI. This is something that hasn’t gone down well with some Tamils and a hashtag #FamilyMan2_against_Tamils, is trending widely ever since the trailer dropped yesterday.

Many have stated Raji is shown wearing the LTTE uniform, speaking Tamil in the Jaffna dialect and as she is considered a terrorist here, LTTE too will be shown in that light. This has angered a huge chunk of the Tamil population, who have gone on to vent it out in social media platforms with various trending hashtags. At this moment, the show hasn’t used any names for it, they have clearly mentioned it in the trailer the group as rebels and nothing beyond that.

Most of this anger is directed towards Samantha Akkineni, as many Tamil fans are hurt stating that someone who they consider their own and knows about the history have gone on to play such a character. Many have also gone on to state that she needs to apologise about it right away, so that it doesn’t get out of hand. Some have even stated that this might be one of the biggest mistakes in her career. Going ahead with all these, it looks like Akkineni is facing the major brunt of this controversy.

Samantha’s character is one such role that Raj & DK has given proper thought about and brought it out to the world. They have clearly made sure that nothing of sorts will harm the sentiments of people no matter who watches it from where. Infact, it was also mentioned some time ago how the series has successfully made it out without much snipping.

Also, not to mention how Amazon Prime Video has been knee deep in controversies from the beginning of this year with some of their superhit shows. Going with that, we are very sure that they too will look forward that nothing comes out which is portrayed in a wrong light and knowing how LTTE has had an effect on the Tamilians, we are sure they won’t go ahead with something that can portray them in bad light or something that can create controversies all over again.
