Award-winning Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been roped in for ‘Arrangements of Love’, a film to be directed by the Wales-born filmmaker Philip John.
A few months back, the film was in the news for being the only Asian title, amongst 41 titles from across the globe, to be selected in International Financing Forum at the 2021 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
‘Arrangements of Love’ is being produced by Sunitha Tati, who has previously backed films such as Raj & DK’s Shor in the City, Courier Boy Kalyan, Sahasame Swasaga Sagipo, and the acclaimed Telugu fantasy-comedy movie Oh! Baby (starring Samantha).
Based on Timeri N. Murari’s 2004 novel of the same name, ‘Arrangements of Love’ revolves around a Welsh Indian man’s endeavor to visit India in order to find his estranged father. During his quest, he crosses paths with a female Indian detective (to be played by Samantha), who helps the man in his search. Samantha’s character is that of a bisexual Tamil woman whose orthodox parents want to get her married.
‘Arrangements of Love’ is certainly a project to look forward to, considering the creative collaboration between a proven producer Sunitha Tati, BAFTA award winner Philip John, and eminent performer Samantha. Philip John is known for directing various shows including ‘Being Human’, ‘Downton Abbey’, ‘Outlander’, ‘Iron Fist’, and ‘The Good Karma Hospital’, amongst others.
On the other hand, Samantha is fresh off the heels of the phenomenal success of her recent web series ‘The Family Man’ Season 2 which was helmed by Raj & DK and featured Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role. Samantha had garnered unanimous acclaim for her spellbinding act as the series’ main antagonist.
Samantha’s previous acting projects include Gautham Menon’s Neethaane En Ponvasantham, S.S. Rajamouli’s Eega, AR Murugadoss‘s Kaththi, Suriya starrer 24, Super Deluxe, and Atlee’s directorial Mersal, to name a few.
Philip John’s ‘Arrangements of Love’ starring Samantha is expected to begin its filming schedule in August 2022.
