As Daredevil: Born Again gears up for its production, we are regularly getting mind-boggling updates about the upcoming MCU instalment. Earlier this week, Jon Bernthal joined the series’ cast as The Punisher. Now, the show has roped in Better Call Saul fame, Sandrine Holt. The actor will replace Ayelet Zurer to play Vanessa Fisk, wife of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio.
The addition of Holt as Vanessa Fisk means that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil will have more than one villain to deal with in the upcoming series. We have seen the character accepting Wilson Fisk’s love despite knowing his ruthless and evil deeds, both in comics and on Netflix’s original Daredevil series. It means she will pose a significant threat to our beloved superhero in the show.
Vanessa was instrumental in some of Wilson’s successful ventures in Netflix’s Daredevil. And she will continue to influence him in the forthcoming Disney+ series.
Born Again is loosely inspired by Marvel’s 1986 comic book series of the same name, penned by Frank Miller. Although, it is still unclear how much the show will deviate from its source material. The comic book storyline did not have Punisher in it. But considering the reunion of Vanessa and Wilson Fisk, The Devil of the Hell’s Kitchen needs all the help he can get in the series, even if it comes from a hard-edged vigilante.
Additionally, Michael Cuesta will direct the pilot episode of Daredevil: Born Again. He is well-known for his helming duties in shows like Homeland and Dexter. As for the show’s cast, we have performers like Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Michael Gaston, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Sandrine Holt, apart from Charlie Cox.
