The official trailer for Neestream‘s upcoming original film ‘Samasyah‘ dropped on the official Youtube channel of the streaming platform. Releasing tomorrow, ‘Samasyah’ is a rare, one of a kind film – and upon its premiere, the movie becomes the first environmental awareness feature that was made completely in Sanskrit and released around the globe, directly onto an OTT platform. Check out the trailer for the film at the end of this article.
The trailer for this upcoming direct-to-OTT feature and the caption for the same does not match at all. According to the trailer caption, this film aims to get the current generation of young adults to understand the importance of our cultural heritage as well as to take care of the environment around us. The film will follow a young child who will attempt to survive whatever has caused him/her to be bedridden. The cause of her disability seems to be environmental in nature and it looks the kid will need sheer willpower to survive.
The trailer, however, conveys none of these plot points. Somehow not surprising, the trailer for this upcoming film is extremely cryptic and plays out like a supernatural drama-thriller for some reason. So far, there only seems to be one recognisable actor on screen – the Mollywood veteran, Narayanan Nair. Some parts of the film trailer have the cinematography of old Malayalam TV serials – which doesn’t sound very appealing.
What is surprising however is the release of a Sanskrit film on a primarily Malayalam content-focused OTT platform. However, since the aforementioned actor is a recognizable Malayalam actor, this film’s OTT attraction makes some sense. Still, this development is interesting – meaning that Neestream will not stop at just Malayalam and Sanskrit content.
As mentioned earlier, ‘Samasyah’ premieres on Neestream tomorrow, on 22nd July 2021, with English and Malayalam subtitles.
