It comes as a surprise to audiences as the official trailer for ‘Parineeta’ is released today. It is the web series adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s timeless classic which has been adapted multiple times both in Bengali and Hindi.
The 1953 Hindi film starred Ashok Kumar and Meena Kumari in leading roles. And the 2005 movie had Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, Rekha and other actors and it gained much popularity among audiences. But there has not been a series based on the bestselling novel yet.
The Hoichoi series does not seem to have a very big budget but Gourab Chakroborty looks good in the lead role. Debchandrima plays the female lead and the show is directed by filmmaker Aditi Roy. ‘Parineeta’, translated as ‘The Married Woman’, tells the story of Lalita and Shekhar, who decide to marry each other when they grow up and are estranged for various reasons. When they are reunited, Shekhar grows suspicious of Lalita and also his father tries to convince him out of the betrothal.
The supporting cast and other details have not been revealed yet. Who is handling the cinematography and music is not known yet. Hopefully there will soon be some more information out.
The show will be premiering on the 15th of August this year.
