Amazon Prime Video has released the trailer for the upcoming Tamil film ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ starring Arya in the lead. Helmed by ‘Kabali’ director Pa. Ranjith, the film is set to launch on Amazon Prime on 22nd July, 2022 coinciding with the Prime Day celebrations.
The sports drama film set in the 1980s Madras is all about boxing and its socials and cultural impact at the time. The people of the area learnt English style of boxing during the British rule when they taught boxing to Indians for their entertainment.
But this boxing broke what once a single clan into two and then eventually into four different clans. And now it’s the fight between Sarpatta Parambarai and Idiyappa Parambarai clans that is at the center of the film.
Vembuli of the Idiyappa clan has become the top boxer after defeating multiple opponents and Sarpatta clan needs to put up a suitable fighter who can beat him and restore the glory of the clan. Kabilan (Arya) is determined to go against him and achieve what others have failed to do.
The journey ahead though does not look easy for him as he faces the politics revolving around boxing and the clans. And somehow due to all this, a simple fun loving Kabilan gets involved in violent activities which leads to him losing credibility as a boxer for the head coach of Sarpatta clan.
Taking it up as a challenge, he comes out stronger and in a completely new avatar with a perfectly chiseled physique. Fuelled with energy, determination and purpose will Kabilan be able to defeat Vembuli and restore the glory of his clan and himself is what forms the crux of the film.
‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ stars Arya, Kalaiyarasan, Pasupathi, John Kokken, Santhosh Pratap, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Johnn Vijay, Akali Venkat and Muthukumar among others.
Pa. Ranjith, who has earlier worked with Rajnikanth in films like ‘Kaala’ and ‘Kabali’, has written and directed ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’. The film, presented by Amazon, has been produced by K9 Studios in association with Neelam Productions. Shanmugam Dhakshanraj serves as it’s producer.
‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ will premiere only on Amazon Prime Video on 22nd July, 2022.
