‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ & ‘Antim: The Final Truth’ Clash Gets More Interesting

Earlier today, the makers of John Abraham starrer upcoming action thriller film ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ had revealed a teaser featuring the dashing lead actor besides also announcing the new release date for the film. Directed by Milap Zaveri, ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ is now slated for a theatrical release on Thursday, 25th November 2021, that is, a day ahead of Mahesh Manjrekar’s directorial ‘Antim: The Final Truth’ starring Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma.

Preponing the film by a day is bound to give ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ an edge over its box office competitor ‘Antim: The Final Truth’, which is scheduled to release on Friday, 26th November. In case the film is liked by the audiences, good word of mouth might positively affect the film’s footfall in the subsequent days, especially the weekend.

Another tried and tested but effective strategy that has reportedly (via Bollywood Hungama) been deployed by the makers of ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ is that a 25-minute preview from the film is being shown to exhibitors all over India. The 25-minute footage ostensibly consists of some of the best scenes from the film alongside the film’s trailer and a few songs.

Incidentally, just a few days back, it was reported that the extension of superstar Salman Khan’s role in ‘Antim: The Final Truth’ had increased the curiosity quotient around the film. Now, whether the combination of the aforementioned preponement and marketing strategies deployed by the makers of ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ will get the film more screens in India, and eventually greater footfalls, compared to ‘Antim: The Final Truth’, is subject to speculation and can be ascertained only after the film’s release.

Full trailers for both these films ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ and ‘Antim: The Final Truth’ will release shortly and how well the films’ trailers are received by prospective viewers can also bring more clarity about the ground-level anticipation factor around these films.

While we wish that both ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ and ‘Antim: The Final Truth’ do well at the box office, we are also engulfed with a good, nostalgic feeling of Indian films being engaged in healthy competition. This further makes us ponder whether the post-pandemic catchline of ‘Unlocking Cinemas’ in India has actually come to fruition.
