The Supreme Court of India has held a screening for the 2023 movie ‘Laapata Ladies’. A circular of the Apex Court has stated that this is a decision associated with the celebration of the 75th year of the establishment of the Court.
It comes as a big surprise to the makers and fans as well. The news was announced yesterday and the makers of the film were invited to the screening. Aamir Khan was welcomed by the judges and there is the possibility of Kiran Rao, his ex-wife and director of the film, joining too. CJI Chandrachud, other judges and their families are expected to be present during the screening.
‘Laapata Ladies’ is a film that addresses the question of patriarchy and misogyny in a subtle way and thus manages to deliver a socially impactful film that does not offend the sentiments of people. The movie gathered a large number of views on Netflix and impressed critics and audiences alike. The movie being screened in the Diamond Jubilee of the Supreme Court’s foundation is one more feather in the cap for the director and all the people associated with the film.
‘Laapata Ladies’ seems to have done its job of spreading a very necessary message quite successfully and the Supreme Court screening seems to be the final stamp on its huge success.
