Applause Entertainment, the content production company behind hit shows such as Scam 1992, Hostages and Criminal Justice, is gearing up to make its next show. This time, it’s a remake of the hit French comedy series ‘Call My Agent’. The narrative focuses on an insider’s look at the glamorous world of Bollywood, along with the fears, fetishes, fallacies and fawning fans of its celebrity citizens.
The story is told more from the point of view of the agents of the Bollywood celebrities – a force unto themselves, as anyone with even a passing interest in the inner workings of the film world will know. The series will be constructed as a coming of age dramedy, and will cast an intimate glance at everything that goes on behind the doors of the stars once the arc-lights are off. The show will explore star egos, insecurities, petty scheming and fickle friendships of tinsel town celebs, told in a fun and comic way. The series will also have a real-life Bollywood star gracing every episode, who will play a satirical and exaggerated version of themselves.
As of now, actors Rajat Kapoor, Soni Razdan, Aahana Kumra and Ayush Mehra have been signed on for the remake of Call My Agent. More names are under consideration, as the makers look to finish casting for the series.
The Call My Agent Indian remake will be helmed by acclaimed director Shaad Ali, who’s earlier directed films such as ‘Saathiya and ‘Bunty Aur Babli’. The series has been written by the talented duo of Abbas & Hussain Dalal. The series is being produced by Applause Entertainment along Banijay Asia.
