Hansal Mehta is coming up with a new web series. Needless to say, his directorial Scam 1992 was a fiery success on SonyLIV as it continues to be one of the greatest and most successful web series ever made in India.
However, this time the filmmaker is coming up on Netflix with an explosive story. The story is based on a book called “Behind the Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison” by Jigna Vora.
The story is about a super popular journalist who is charged with the murder of her fellow journalist. Needless to say, this turns her life upside down. She is caught between the police, mafia, and of course the media.
The series will be led by Karishma Tanna who is well known for her soap opera roles. Apart from her, the series stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
The trailer is highly engaging. The background score looks at par with that of Scam 1992. However, it would be a challenge for Netflix to promote the series that audiences bother to watch on a mass level.
The trailer is well-cut and gives us a good insight into the series. We hope that the series is accurate in its depiction without adding too much masala to the actual events. Interestingly, the series boldly shows the visuals of Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan. So yes, it can be highly tempting for the masses.
The series is set to arrive on Netflix India on the 2nd of June. Let’s see what kind of headlines it makes.
