Sex Bob-Omb is ready to rock and roll again! Netflix has ordered the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ anime series, bringing back the cast of 2010’s cult classic, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, as voice actors.
It means the leading duo of Michael Cera and Maru Elizabeth Winstead will voice the fan-favourite characters of Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers, respectively.
The upcoming Netflix anime adaptation will take inspiration from Bryan Lee O’Malley’s ‘Scott Pilgrim’ graphic novel series, consisting of six volumes. The latest volume, Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour, came out in 2010. That same year, Edgar Wright’s take on the graphic novel series was released in theatres worldwide as a live-action project.
The graphic novels revolve around Scott, a young bassist of ‘Sex Bob-Omb’ indie garage band. Soon, he falls in love with Ramona. But to complete his love story, he must first defeat her seven evil exes. Additionally, he tries to win a music competition to get his hands on a record deal.
Wright’s version of Scott Pilgrim tanked at the global box office during its theatrical release. However, it gained critical acclaim for its inventive style, performances, and humour. Now, it is considered a cult classic.
Apart from Cera and Winstead, the ‘Scott Pilgrim’ anime’s cast consists of Satya Bhabha, Kieran Culkin, Brie Larson, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh, Alison Pill, Aubrey Plaza, Johnny Simmons, Jason Schwartzman, Ellen Wong, Mark Webber, and Mae Whitman. Netflix will announce new additions to the cast later.
