DC is indeed going through a phase of rapid change; as of now, Pedro Pascal is the newest one to exit. Coming in to fill his shoes is the Gunn brother, Sean Gunn, who will portray the role of an evil businessman in a rather sinister manner.
Pedro Pascal previously played a similar role in Wonder Woman 1984, during the disastrous film of 2020.
It remains uncertain whether Sean Gunn’s Maxwell Lord will make a cameo in brother James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, possibly with a background reference. The character is slated for future DC projects, following a motif similar to other characters in the initial phase, Gods and Monsters: Chapter One. Stay tuned for updates.
Maxwell Lord, introduced in 1987’s Justice League #1, initially served as an ally to the Justice League but eventually turned into an antagonist.
He played a key role in forming the Justice League International. However, after a Gene Bomb explosion during the Invasion, he gained mind control powers, complicating his role as a wealthy businessman and leading to conflicts with Wonder Woman.
While Pedro Pascal is undoubtedly a beloved figure, as reflected in the internet’s reactions, some have called his exit an act of nepotism.
However, Sean Gunn is also a well-loved figure, and the internet seems to be taking the news with a pinch of salt, expressing understanding and not harboring resentment towards Sean taking over the role.
