Now that it’s been over 15 years and 5 movies since Daniel Craig has been the British spy James Bond, with the Isatmovie coming out in 2021, it’s about time we are introduced to a new bond. And the producers are in fact looking for just that. As per recent reports, Albert Broccoli and Barbara Broccoli still have 50% ownership over the character after MGM got purchased. And thus they are the ones who will be choosing the next agent, 007.
The search is on for a British actor in his 30s. The idea of a person of color playing bond is also included in the search. And the fans are ready with their picks. While many consider Henry Cavill to be the perfect pick for James Bond, given that he has previously played spy in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, many are preferring Idris Elba as the choice for the people of color representation. However, both are a bit old for the role, it seems, as Cavill turned 41 this year and Elba is 52 already.
Any new face should be young enough to carry the franchise for the oncoming decade and more. The Broccoli siblings are considering a number of articles themselves, with the top name as of now being Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Still, the ambiguity remains to be clear as to who will be the next bond.
This is still better, as No Time To Die did show us a “successor” to the 007 tag played by Lashana Lynch. The idea of a female bond was even considered all the way back in the 1960s and was resurfacing. Fortunately, it didn’t become true, as the backlash would be imminent. It is also better to include original characters for female-centric movies than to refurbish fan favorites by gender swapping them.
