Seema Pahwa’s Directorial Debut Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi With Stellar Cast Eyes Direct OTT Release

Seema Pahwa, the actress with the reassuring presence in so many Bollywood movies such as Bala, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Savdhan and a host of others, is poised to make her directorial debut with the satirical comedy and family drama, Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi. The movie would have had a May release, if only the Coronavirus shutdown hadn’t affected its plans.

Now there’s news that the makers, Drishyam Films, plan to release it on OTT and are in talks with OTT platforms. The movie had premiered at the Jio MAMI Film Festival 2019, and was much appreciated by audiences.

Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi boasts a huge ensemble cast comprising Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, Vinay Pathak, Vikrant Massey, Konkana Sen Sharma, Ninad Kamat, Vineet Kumar, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, and also Seema’s husband, Manoj Pahwa, among others.

Theatres aren’t about to open any time soon, and even when they will, big ticket Bollywood and Hollywood movies will occupy centrestage. It thus makes ample sense to release mid-budget films such as Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi on an OTT platform rather than theatres, where it is more likely to grab eyeballs.
