‘Selfiee’ Fails To Create Buzz Despite Massive Promotions?

Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Selfiee’ is all set to release in theatres tomorrow but the excitement among the audience is surprisingly underwhelming. What could the reason for that be despite a decent star cast and such back to back promotions?

Promotions are considered to create the much needed buzz for the film that then attracts the audience into theatres but for ‘Selfiee’ things seem to be different. While the stars, specially Akshay Kumar, and makers are doing everything to market the film, it hasn’t generated the kind of response it should have.

The question that arises here is that, will ‘Selfiee’ join Akshay Kumar’s list of recent films like ‘Bachchhan Panday’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Cuttputlli’ and ‘Ram Setu’. None of these last year films could justify Akshay’s big star status and failed at the box office too.

Coming back to ‘Selfiee’, it is the official Hindi remake of Malayalam film ‘Driving License’ and is helmed by Raj Mehta. It is also the first Hindi production of Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran, who starred in the original version.

Touted to be a comedy drama, ‘Selfiee’ follows a Bollywood superstar Vijay Kumar who needs to get a new driver’s license from an RTO officer. However, a misunderstanding leads to a war of words between the two, eventually escalating into a feud which is played out in front of the entire country.

Other than Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi, the film stars Nushrratt Bharuchha and Diana Penty in prominent roles. ‘Selfiee’ is produced by Dharma Productions, Magic Frames, Prithviraj Productions, Cape of Good Films and Star Studios. It just a matter of a few hours now and the real results for ‘Selfiee’ will be out. What are your expectations from the film?
