September To Be Colossal Blockbuster Month Of OTT Releases

September To Be Colossal Blockbuster Month Of OTT Releases

September is shaping up to be an enormous OTT blockbuster feast. With the onset of Ganesh Chaturthi, this festive month is stacked up with releases from all over the country. After much speculation, many anticipated movies will now release digitally instead of in theatres. With the uncertainty surrounding the theatrical medium, makers are not willing to risk the fate of their films and are instead opting for a digital release. Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Bell Bottom’ is the only Bollywood film that decided to take the leap of faith and go in for a theatrical release, though unfortunately the box office numbers haven’t exactly made it worth it so far, since theaters in Maharashtra are still shut, which accounts for about 30% of a Bollywood film’s profits. The Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Chehre’ is most probably next to follow suit and is all set for a theatrical release on 27th August.

Telegu Cinema on the other hand, has seen a few theatrical releases like ‘Thimmarusu’, ‘Ishq’, ‘Narasimhapuram’ and the latest Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi starrer ‘Love Story’ that will hit theaters on 10th September, Ganesh Chaturthi. Alhough since business hasn’t been too good, production houses are still in favour of going the digital way for now, much to the dismay of some lead actors who were hoping to get a theatrical release for their films. Well, either way, it’s going to be a star-studded September extravaganza, so we’re not complaining!

Apart from blockbuster movies, we also have some much-awaited Indian and international web shows relasing this month.
