Series Regular Dougray Scott Bids Adieu To ‘Batwoman’ With Season 2

Series Regular Dougray Scott Bids Adieu To ‘Batwoman’ With Season 2

Fans were elated when it was announced in 2019 that Batwoman will have its standalone TV series. Ever since its inception, the series has been the centre of discussion for various reasons. While Batwoman got a positive review, it definitely received its share of negative comments. Along with all of these, the CW series Batwoman has been constantly seeing changes now and then, but the creators are also determined to not let these get to the head. But now, Batwoman fans will be seeing another emotional change.

News has been confirmed that series regular Dougray Scott has now exited the show with Season 2. His last appearance in the show came in Episode 16, which was two weeks before the season finale, which aired on the 27th of June. As for Dougray Scott, he played the role of Jacob Kane, father to Kate Kane, Beth Kane aka Alice and Mary. In his final episode, he now disbanded “Crows”, the group he led as the commander. He was arrested for helping with Alice and has been sent to the Metropolis to wait for his trial.

The news has been confirmed by Batwoman’s showrunner Caroline Dries, who also is the executive director and developer for the series. The series saw one of its major changes when Ruby Rose playing the lead role of Kate Kane aka Batwoman left the show abruptly after Season 1. With Ruby Rose’s exit fans were skeptical as to how they would pull the show off.

But, looks like the creators did an incredible job in resurrecting Batwoman, as they brought in the character Ryan Wilder played by Javicia Lewis. Lewis also became the first black woman to play the superhero. That being said, Season 2, brought Kate Kane back as a recurring character. Wallis Day came onboard to play the role, but now it is also confirmed that Kate Kane has left the town for good now with no possibilities of returning. She is out now to go find her cousin Bruce Wayne.

As Dries announced the exit of Dougray Scott, she mentioned that the show and the team were blessed to have him onboard playing such an important role. She also mentioned that the doors are always open for him to come back any time. This indicates that fans might be able to witness Commander Kane, but possibly more in flashbacks or maybe other special appearances. Also, not to mention Kate Kane and her father did have their final goodbyes before they both exited the show.

As for Batwoman now, the show will proceed with Javicia Lewis as Ryan Wilder aka Batwoman. The show is already booked for Season 3, which will start premiering on October 13, 2021. It would be interesting to see how the next season proceeds with so many major changes already in the first 2 seasons. Also with no more Kate Kane, the story for Batwoman might take a different turn altogether.

Will all these changes finally take a toll on the series or will it continue to go past all the turbulence, like it has been doing since its inception? Only time and fans can answer the question for us with the upcoming season.
