Vijay Sethupathi is clearly the talk of the town these days! His latest outing, ‘Annabelle Sethupathi‘, is a period horror comedy and will have a pan-India digital premiere on Disney+Hotstar on the 17th of September. The poster of the film was just revealed last week and fans haven’t able to control their excitement. Written and directed by Deepak Sundarajan, it features Sethupathi and Taapsee Pannu in the lead, alongwith Yogi Babu, Radhika Sarathkumar and Rajendra Prasad in supporting roles. This film marks the first collaboration between Pannu and Sethupathi.
The multi-lingual film will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam, with the Hindi version titled as ‘Annabelle Rathore’. The Tamil version of the trailer was launched by actor Suriya, whereas the Telugu and Malayalam versions by veteran actors Venkatesh and Mohanlal respectively. The trailer starts out with grand sets featuring a magnificent, majestic palace, that King Sethupathi (played by Sethupathi) had made for Annabelle (played by Pannu), his fiancee. The initial portions depict the love saga between the two and then shifts to current times, with Taapsee playing a double role. The crux of the story is that the King’s ghost continues to live in the palace for years, since he doesn’t wish to part with it. The premise doesn’t really seem like anything new, but from the trailer, the comic angle looks promising.
Sethupathi is on a roll these days! The coming month has not one or two, but four of his releases! Apart from ‘Annabelle Sethupathi’, ‘Laabam’ is slated for a theatrical release on 9th September, whereas ‘Tughlaq Durbar’, is scheduled for a televised premiere on SunTv, post which it will be available for streaming on Netflix. ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’, was also to release digitally on SonyLiv, but may now release in theaters as per the latest reports. As for Taapsee, apart from this film, she also has ‘Looop Lapeta’, ‘Rashmi Rocket’ and Mithali Raj biopic ‘Shabash Mithu’ in the pipeline.
