Sex Education Season 4: Expected Plot, Cast, and Release Date

By Binged Bureau - Aug 06, 2022 @ 07:08 pm
Sex Education Season 4: Expected Plot, Cast, and Release Date

Sex Education has become one of Netflix’s flagship shows. Debuting in 2019, the coming-of-age drama series follows the lives of the students and staff of Moordale Secondary School. It mainly revolves around Otis, played by Asa Butterfield, a socially awkward teen who specialises in bestowing important sex-related advice to his peers. He sows the seeds of a therapy business with the help of Maeve (Emma Mackey) and Eric (Ncuti Gatwa).

Various reports have disclosed that showrunners have commenced filming for Season 4. Here is what we can expect from the upcoming Sex Education entry!

Sex Education Season 4: Plot Details

Many actors like Simone Ashley (Olivia), Patricia Allison (Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), and Rakhee Thakkar (Emily Sands) have announced their departures from the show. With their exit, fans are worried about where the show will head in the upcoming instalment. And yes, this scenario will change bring a significant change to Season 4’s plot.

According to Variety, the series will “see a mixture of old and new exciting faces” as it sails forward with Season 4. We know that the Moondale Secondary School has lost its sources of funding. As a result, the school’s alumni will find “an alternative place to study”.

Fans witnessed Otis and Maeve revealing their love for each other in the last season. Plus, the former promised that he would wait for her. Will he be able to keep the promise? Teenagers are quite unpredictable in this department!

We also saw Eric breaking up with Adam. Yes, it was indeed a heart-shattering moment! But this break-up may reshape Adam’s life. It is not like Eric is not open to rekindling his bond with Adam. It’s just he needs him to come out of the closet and become comfortable with his true identity. How will Adam see this situation? Will we see him taking the much-needed therapy sessions?

Who is in the cast of Sex Education Season 4?

The majority of the main cast will appear in Season 4. Simone Ashley’s prominence accelerated after appearing in Bridgerton Season 2. It seems like her newfound success has resulted in her departure from Sex Education. She has confirmed that “she’s a Bridgerton girl now” in her recent talk with ITV’s This Morning.

Patricia Allison has also managed to get her hands on some new projects. It means she won’t appear as Ola in the upcoming season. She broke the news in an interview with Capital Xtra: “I have absolutely loved being on Sex Education, so, so much, and playing Ola, but unfortunately I won’t be joining the team for season 4…I’m so sorry to have to break that to you guys, but I’m just going to be doing some other things.”

The on-screen Emily Sands, Rakhee Thakkar, is not a part of the fourth season as well. “I can’t really talk about why…But I’m so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education,” she told Daily Star Sunday.

However, Ncuti Gatwa will not break the hearts of Sex Education fans as he will appear in the new season. Rumours about his departure from the show started flooding social media after the actor was chosen as the new Doctor Who some time ago. Thankfully, he has not yet bid farewell to the Netflix show.

When will it release?

Given the fact that the makers have just started filming Sex Education Season 4, we can expect it to arrive on Netflix in late 2022 or early 2023. Stay tuned for more updates.
