Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi has become synonymous with edgy, out and out villainous roles in some of the biggest South films of recent times. And now the actor is all set to redefine the world of villainy in Bollywood too. As per reports from credible sources, Vijay Sethupathi is on the verge of joining the cast of the super-hyped Shah Rukh Khan starrer, ‘Jawan’ as an antagonist in the film. Whether he will play the main villain or just one of the villains is still not known, but his villain character is said to be a powerful role in Jawan.
As per sources, Vijay Sethupathi has already agreed to come on board Jawan and will join the shoot of the film soon. Vijay Sethupathi comes on board Jawan in place of Telugu star Rana Daggubati, who was earlier billed to play the same role, but opted out due to unstated reasons.
Vijay Sethupathi hopping on to Jawan adds heft and gravitas to the film. He is one of the most exciting actors in Indian cinema at the moment, bringing his own brand of evilness and edginess to every film he features in. His recent outing in Tamil blockbuster ‘Vikram’ as the menacing Santhanam received accolades galore from critics and audiences. Shah Rukh Khan had also recently praised Vijay Sethupathi and his formidable acting skills.
Jawan is directed by Tamil director Atlee (Mersal, Bigil, Theri). The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, reportedly in a double role, along with Nayanthara and Priyamani. Sunil Grover also has a prominent role in the film. Jawan is produced by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Deepika Padukone is essaying a cameo in the film. She will reportedly play the wife of Shah Rukh Khan’s character in the film. Deepika Padukone’s cameo in Jawan is said to be a short but interesting one.
Jawan will hit theatres worldwide, on June 2, 2023. The film will be a pan-India affair, to be released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
