Netflix has added another star to its upcoming season 2 of the comedy-drama series ‘Russian Doll’. This time it’s the ‘District 9’ actor Sharlto Copley, who will join the previously added Annie Murphy (‘Schitt’s Creek’) and Carolyn Michelle Smith (‘House Of Cards’).
Neither the makers nor Netflix has revealed any further information about the roles they will play in ‘Russian Doll 2’. Created and executive produced by Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler, and Leslye Headland, season 1 of ‘Russian Doll’ followed Nadia (Natasha Lyonne), a young woman who attends a party in New York City as a guest of honor but finds herself caught in a mysterious time loop where she keeps reliving the same night over and over in which she dies at the end of the night but wakes up next morning as if nothing happened.
Other than Emmy nominated Lyonne, ‘Russian Doll’ season 1, that came out in 2019, also starred Charlie Barnett, Greta Lee, Elizabeth Ashley, Rebecca Henderson and Yul Vazquez among others. Shooting for season 2 is currently underway.
‘Russian Doll’ has been produced by Universal Television, Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions, JAX Media and 3 Arts Entertainment and is expected to launch this summer.
Sharlto Copley is a South African actor known for his work like that in the Academy Award-nominated science fiction film ‘District 9’, ‘The A-Team’, ‘Elysium’, ‘Maleficent’ and more. His upcoming credits include ‘Ted K’ which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and ‘Monkey Man’.
