Tahira Kashyap’s directorial debut ‘Sharmajee Ji Beti’ will have a direct to OTT release. The movie will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on the 28th of June.
‘Sharmajee Ki Beti’ has Sakshi Tanwar, Divya Dutta, Satyajit Kher, Sharib Hashmi, Artist Mehta and various other actors. The screenplay is written by Tahira Kashyap herself.
The movie is a tale of womanhood and female experience in a big city. It tells the story of some women with the same surname ‘Sharma’ and their collective emotions. Swati and Gurveen are two friends who are nearing puberty and trying to deal with some problems they have never faced yet. Swati’s mother Jyoti is a hard working woman who does tuition and cannot find much time for her child. Gurveen’s mother, Kiran, on the other hand struggles with Loneliness and her husband’s negligence. Kiran’s neighbour Tanvi, who is a Ranji player, fails to gain appreciation and respect from her boyfriend.
The one hour and fifty six minute movie has been given a U/A certificate. It was previously planned for a theatrical release. But now the makers are announcing that ‘Sharmajee Ki Beti’ will have a direct to OTT release. Despite some movies working out really well at the box office, the trends are really unpredictable and obviouly releasing the movie to OTT seems more safe to the makers.
Sharmajee Ki Beti comes to Amazon Prime Video on the 28th of June.
