OTT giant Netflix is all geared up for the fifth and final season of its superhit sci-fi horror series ‘Stranger Things’, which is regarded as one of Netflix’s flagship shows. The show has consistently topped various streaming charts across the globe time and again since its Season-1 premiere in 2016. So, the super high curiosity quotient around the show’s finale is understandable.
As per a recent report, Oscar nominated filmmaker Frank Darabont is in talks to direct two out of eight episodes of ‘Stranger Things Season-5’ (via Jeff Sneider). Frank Darabont is well known for directing the highly rated prison drama ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘The Green Mile’, and ‘The Mist’.
The last two films had supernatural elements in their stories, so Frank Darabont is no ‘stranger’ (no pun intended) to the genre. He had also developed the immensely popular post-apocalyptic horror series ‘The Walking Dead’. But the last time the filmmaker went behind the camera was to direct the neo-noir crime drama show ‘Mob City’ in 2013.
The ‘Stranger Things’ series has been created by The Duffer Brothers, who have directed the majority of the episodes throughout its four-season run. And they will most likely direct multiple episodes for the upcoming season as well. Besides them, ‘Deadpool 3’ helmer Shawn Levy has also directed several episodes of the show.
The basic story of ‘Stranger Things’, set in the 1980s, revolves around a young boy’s disappearance and the ensuing investigation by his mother, police chief, and his friends amidst supernatural events. Thereafter, the story follows the aftereffects of the devastating Battle of Starcourt at the Hawkins town in Indiana.
