She-Hulk Episode 9 Recap: Breaks The Heck Out Of The Fourth Wall

She-Hulk Episode 9 Recap: Breaks The Heck Out Of The Fourth Wall

Episode 9 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is now available on Disney+ Hotstar.

The last episode marked the return of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil. The beloved superhero donned a modified version of the suit that he wore in the acclaimed Netflix series. Without a doubt, we can admit that Episode 8 was the best one so far in the MCU show. Which brings us to these questions: Did Episode 9 live up to the expectations? Did the She-Hulk series receive a proper conclusion? Or should we expect another overstuffed or rushed finale from MCU? Let’s find out!

SPOILER WARNING

In the latest episode, titled “Whose Show Is This?”, the Department of Damage Control (DODC) arrests Jen after the latter briefly loses control and wreaks havoc at the gala. Thanks to Intelligencia! She wakes up in a prison cell at DODC. The trio of Nikki, Pug, and Mallory visit her to inform her that they have managed to strike a plea deal. As a result, she can no longer turn herself into She-Hulk.

The episode also gives a perfect homage to the classic Hulk TV show from the 1970s.

Jen loses her job at GLK&H and ends up staying with her parents. She tries contacting Bruce, thinking that he will understand her situation. Then, she tries to reach out to Emil.

Meanwhile, Nikki tries to discover the person responsible for creating Intelligencia. She uploads an old college video of Jen (sent to her by Jen’s mother) to the website. Soon, she receives an invitation for a meet-up. However, the invitation refers to “bro”, forcing Nikki to get Pug as her cover-up.

Pug finds out that Todd, the creepy guy She-Hulk went on a date with, is the creator of Intelligencia, the HulkKing. After this, we see Abomination arriving as a guest speaker at the meet-up. Soon, we see the final episode breaking the heck out of the fourth wall.

It is okay if you do not know what to say or feel about the final episode after watching it. Episode 9 is, by far, one of the most unique (also a bit bizarre) episodes to come out of the MCU. Was it a masterpiece or an utter disaster? It’s too hard to tell. There is no denying that the She-Hulk finale will draw a highly polarised reaction from the viewers.

Wait, we forgot to tell you about the final moments of Episode 9. What we are about to mention in the paragraph below may seem unrealistic, wildly creative, or too stupid for you (depending on your taste). But we swear all the events literally happened in the finale.

When we see Jen, Emil, Bruce’s Hulk, HulkKing, Nikki, Pug, and even Titania at the meet-up, our beautiful protagonist stops the episode and questions the show’s plot. Out of nowhere, the Disney+ menu pops up on our screen and we see Jen (in her She-Hulk form) crashing down the show’s logo and entering ‘Marvel: Assembled’. Then, she lands herself on the sets of Marvel Studios. We can also hear a person asking someone about the Infinity Gauntlet there. Anyway…

Jen enters a room where we see all the writers discussing possible plotlines for the show. She expresses her disappointment over Episode 9’s storyline. The writers there inform her that K.E.V.I.N is responsible for this scenario. She decides to meet K.E.V.I.N, assuming he is a guy, after kicking the a**es of some security guards and signing a Non-Disclosure Agreement, of course.

Jen enters a production room and meets K.E.V.I.N (Knowledge Enhanced Visual Interconnectivity Nexus), an artificial intelligence. Yes, a freaking AI! Not the MCU’s godfather himself, Kevin Feige.

K.E.V.I.N requests her to transform back into her original self. She expresses her disdain towards the treatment of her storyline. We also see her making some valid points about the MCU.

Jen jokingly asks about X-Men from K.E.V.I.N and also about Daredevil’s return (a woman has her needs, folks). Then, she goes back into the episode where everything gets settled. In the end, we see Daredevil having lunch with Jen’s family. Bruce also arrives there and he introduces his son, Skaar. WHAT THE HELL???? The post-credits scene features Wong taking Emil to Kamar-Taj.

Viewers will either fall in love with Episode 9 or hate it with all their hearts. It is a tough pill to swallow. Yes, we have seen Jen breaking the fourth wall many times in the show. But it is hard to tell if the finale’s ending will sit well with the viewers or not. Although, it was an interesting way to conclude the show. And it works considering the series’ fourth wall-breaking nature.

Say what you want about the She-Hulk series. But Tatiana Maslany is the biggest takeaway from the show. She nailed that role! All episodes are streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Stay tuned for more updates.
