Rohit Dhawan’s directorial feature film ‘Shehzada’ starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead role was released in theatres on 17th February. But its clash with the Marvel superhero movie ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ and SRK’s blockbuster ‘Pathaan’ adversely affected the film’s box-office fate. Moreover, ‘Shehzada’ received rather mixed feedback from critics and audiences.
The digital streaming rights for ‘Shehzada’ were bagged by the Netflix OTT platform and the movie was expected to start streaming from 1st April. However, even after more than six weeks since its theatrical release, ‘Shehzada’ is still nowhere to be found on the Netflix OTT platform.
Even more surprising is the fact that yesterday, Netflix had announced its upcoming films and series titles which will be released in the first half of the month of April. But, in that list too, the name of ‘Shehzada’ is conspicuous by its absence. The omission of ‘Shehzada’ from the upcoming Netflix titles list (April 1st half) surprised multiple OTT enthusiasts and they started enquiring about Shehzada’s OTT release date. Even a quick search for ‘Shehzada’ on the Netflix app yielded no results.
Since ‘Shehzada’ is not expected to stream on Netflix in the first half of April as per above list, it will most likely start streaming sometime in April second half. Unless Netflix springs a surprise and launches the film in the coming few days.
A remake of Allu Arjun’s critically and commercially successful Telugu language film ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’, ‘Shehzada’ features Kartik Aaryan as the protagonist who learns that his biological father is actually a super-rich businessman. He then decides to approach their biological parents and intends to protect them from imminent dangers. The movie also features Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, Ronit Roy, and Manisha Koirala in pivotal roles.
