The new generation is being poisoned with utter crass in the name of comedy. Creators like Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahabadia and others said things that were not even funny. They were downright poisonous and thankfully legal steps are being taken against the people involved. But why are we even discussing this?
Because we have seen an unusual kind of friendship between OTT creators and YouTubers. Take the case of so many stand up comedy shows that are streaming on Prime Video and Netflix India. They are filled with YouTubers who crack jokes. There are also several films and series that is led by YouTubers as actors. Example can be Bhuvan Bam in Taaza Khabar.
Samay Raina himself was a part of Netfix’s Comedy Premium League. So, this is like a warning sign for the OTT creators. They would most certainly not want to associate themselves with the filth these creators are causing and perhaps we can see a decrease in the number of YouTubers who adorn the OTT shows.
This is in a way a good step as it will empower good actors who can pull off challenging roles which are casually given to YouTubers with large subscriber base.
