The 11th month of the year just got over and Netflix had some really great shows that released this month. Some shows ruled Netflix like no other while some others were new entries and took to the limelight immediately.
The “Queen’s Gambit” that released in the last week of October, purely ruled Netflix through and through. The series spent more than a month in the top 10 chart and it very rightly deserved that spot. The series seemed to have pleased fans from all the different genres. This show has now become the most watched scripted Netflix drama of all times. The legends of chess have said that the moves in the chess boards were perfect to the dot, nothing was left haphazardly just for the sake of showing how Beth Harmon was a chess prodigy. The series in all matters did well.
Following “The Queen’s Gambit” is the same week released “A Suitable Boy”. This is the next series that enjoyed its time in the top 10 chart for more than a month. It wasn’t dropped off the chart for even a day; it is a success through and through. The next entry is the latest season of “The Crown” as this season brought in and introduced Margaret Thatcher and the much beloved Princess Diana, this show is rightfully sitting in its “throne” in the charts.
On the Indian front, “Mismatched”, a coming of age youth oriented show has been in the top 10 since its release. This seems pretty relatable as it shows college romance and young adult minds, which Indian Netflix users could relate to. Another show that again came back to the top 10 is “Delhi Crime”. After its win in the Emmys 2020, this show jumped back to the top 10 and in fact has been leading the chart. Applause for the show is much needed for bringing in an international award to the country.
Apart from this, the K-drama “Start Up” has been popping up every week after the release of its weekly episodes but isn’t able to continuously sustain itself in the list throughout, just a pop here and there.
In the reality series front, the Indian show and Karan Johar produced, “The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” is sitting in the throne of the No.1 position and God knows for what reason, but this seemed predictable, as Indians really have the knack to watch such shows and we all know how the algorithm here works, so you never know what might have pushed it the No. 1 position.
So, these basically sum up the shows that have been ruling the OTT Giant Netflix in India.
Also, special mention to “Friends” for always being a constant and never going out of trend and always being there somewhere in the top 10 irrespective of the month or year.
