The official trailer for Shraddha Srinath and Rohini starrer ‘Witness’ is out now. The legal drama will be streamed directly on SonyLiv on the 9th of December. It is the debut directorial of cinematographer turned filmmaker Deepak. It also stars actors like Azhagam Perumal, Shanmugaraj, G Selva and Subatra Robert in other important roles.
The film will talk about the issues faced by manual scavengers. The trailer gives some glimpses on what the film is about. It tells the story of 15 people dying inside a manhole due to construction and engineering frauds. A disturbed and broken mother takes it to the court for justice. She gets help from a young girl from the ‘upper class’,played by Shraddha Srinath. A rebellion against the criminals for the justice of the oppressed follows.
The shooting for the film was completed last December but there was a slight delay in the release for the film due to various reasons. It was planned to have a theatrical release but now, ‘Witness’ will now release directly on OTT. The music of the film is composed by Ramesh Thamilmani and the editing is handled by Philomin Raj, who has already done a wonderful job in ‘Master’.
Deepak D. Menon has done a wonderful job as a cinematographer in movies like ‘Maradona’, ‘Padavettu’, ‘Nizhal’, ‘Tharangam’ and many more. Now he is stepping into the world of direction and we will have to wait for a few more days to know how well he executes that. ‘Witness’ has emotion, it explores the emotions of a mother who has lost her son; it has drama and it has suspense. Watch ‘Witness’ as soon as it premieres on SonyLiv on the 9th of December this year.
